What We Do

Advocacy

The IMO advocates for stronger Indigenous representation across the music industry. We work to help Indigenous voices be heard in conversations around funding, policy, industry standards, and opportunities. Through relationships and collaboration, we support long-term change that reflects the realities and needs of Indigenous people working in music.

Learning & Growth

The IMO supports opportunities for Indigenous people working in music to learn, grow, and build their careers. This can include mentorship, professional development, workshops, gatherings, and shared knowledge that help strengthen confidence and connection across the industry.

Relationships

Relationships are at the centre of the IMO’s work. We believe strong relationships help create stronger communities, healthier industries, and more meaningful opportunities for Indigenous people working in music. We value collaboration, trust, and showing up for one another in a good way.

Community

The IMO exists to help strengthen connections across the Indigenous music ecosystem. We work to create spaces where people can share knowledge, support one another, celebrate Indigenous excellence, and build lasting connections within the music industry.
