The Indigenous Music Office was created in response to a growing need for Indigenous-led advocacy, connection, and support within the music industry. Through community relationships, collaboration, and national conversations, the IMO works to help strengthen visibility, opportunities, and long-term growth for Indigenous people working in music.

What is the Indigenous Music Office (IMO) and who does it support?

We’re here for artists, creators, managers, producers, songwriters, industry professionals, and people working behind the scenes across the music industry. Our work focuses on creating more space, connection, visibility, and opportunity for Indigenous people working in music across the country.

At its core, the IMO is about community. We believe Indigenous voices should continue to shape the future of music, and we work to support that through relationship building, advocacy, mentorship, professional development, and industry collaboration.

Why does the IMO exist?

Through community relationships, collaboration, and national conversations, the IMO works to help strengthen visibility, opportunities, and long-term growth for Indigenous people working in music.

Who can participate in IMO programs and initiatives?

Many IMO programs and funding opportunities are designed specifically to support Indigenous IMO members, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists, creators, and music industry professionals working across different areas of music.

Membership is designed for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people working across different areas of the music industry, including artists, creators, managers, producers, songwriters, and other Indigenous People working in music. Some opportunities may focus on emerging artists and professionals, while others may support more established people working in music. Each program or opportunity may have its own eligibility requirements, timelines, or focus areas, which will be shared within the application details. As the IMO continues to grow, membership helps us build stronger connections across the Indigenous music community while creating more direct pathways into programs, opportunities, and industry support.
