Our Story

The Indigenous Music Office (IMO) was created through years of conversation, advocacy, and relationship building across Indigenous music communities. For a long time, Indigenous people working in music have continued to create, lead, and build careers within systems that were not always designed to support or reflect our realities.

The IMO emerged from a growing need for Indigenous-led representation, connection, advocacy, and long-term support within the music industry. Grounded in collaboration and community, the IMO works to help strengthen visibility, opportunities, and pathways for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people working across all areas of music.

Today, the IMO continues to grow alongside the community it serves, helping create more space for Indigenous leadership, storytelling, mentorship, and industry development across the country.
