New Program Invests in Business Development and Entrepreneurship
[Dish With One Spoon Treaty Territory, Nov 5, 2024] – The Indigenous Music Office (IMO) announces a new national program, Cultural Cadence: Mentorship for Indigenous Music Professionals, created to support career advancement for emerging Indigenous administrators, artist managers, agents, publicists and other roles in the music industry. The new Cultural Cadence program reflects the IMO’s commitment to building capacity in the Indigenous music ecosystem and creating pathways for professional development.
For its first year, the program will offer ten participants from across the country career advancement opportunities and network building activities. The program’s inaugural cohort will be matched with experienced professionals and industry leaders for the purpose of equipping and elevating Indigenous professionals to create a lasting impact in the music world. The program will culminate at the 2025 JUNO Awards in Vancouver.
The IMO is excited to partner with Music Managers Forum Canada (MMF Canada) and Full Circle: First Nations Performance to offer this program. These partnerships will help broaden the expertise and resources available to this first cohort of program participants, and foster a sense of inclusion across specialties and geographic areas. This curated mentorship will bring together diverse mentors and mentees in a culturally informed way to build capacity and create lasting relationships.
